Hey All,

      Few quick updates. Looks like the life of leisure Emily and I were living is almost over. Hunter rolled over from his back to his tummy yesterday. Barrel rolling may be his first mode of translation so we could be in for a work out from now on. He is also almost sitting up. If we put his colored stack of rings toy, that everyone had at one point in their life (probably a very early point), in front of him and get him started off balanced he can hang out that way for a little bit. He's getting bigger everyday. He even pulled himself from a slightly reclining position to a sitting one.

Also some stats from his 4 month visit:

Weight: 15lbs 3oz, 70%

Length: 25.25", 70%

Head: 16 1/4", 25%

     Well, sounds like at 70th percentile on the weight he's falling in line with Dad for sure. As well as the 25th percentile head. Some where around 18" on head circumference I'll be able to fit a helmet to him. So he and I will be highly mobile. The Gore-Tex onesie we have for him will come in handy this winter! I already have a trailer we found for free and we are working on getting him a jogging stroller. I'm far too familiar with the inside of these walls. How long till we stop measuring his height in length, to by the way? No body talks about being 5'9" long. S'pose he'll have to walk to at least stand for that. So I guess I'll stand for length for now. If anybody has any secrets on getting his head circumference to get bigger faster I'd love to hear them. Ok, so the part you guys come for the pictures. When the Family was in town we went to  the Wild Life Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO.  Hunter is totally distracted by the car driving by.  He'll be into the animals soon!

4 Months Old!

Hey folks,

So Hunter is now 4 months old!

Here is Hunter with his Pooh Bear at 4 Months old. Almost as big as the bear.

Emily and I have been amazed that it's been over a whole year since we found out that Emily was pregnant. Yowsa! It's been a big year of firsts with many many more to come. But enough about us, cause I'm sure you don't care, and onto Hunter. Hunter is doing very well. He's got a bit of eczema plus the reflux so he gets a dose of Zantac, Hydrocortisone cream and diaper rash cream every morning and night. But he's happy as a pig in slop! He's started looking at things and reaching out to grab them intentionally. He is blowing raspberries, two types. The kind you make with your lips and the kind you make with your tongue. Which is quite timely because we have a large raspberry patch in the back yard that is producing berries, but I digress. He also has great head control and will twist that thing around like the kid in poltergeist so he can look at the TV when it's on. So we leave it off a lot. He has rolled from his tummy to his back several times now and likes to sleep on his side a lot. He can't quite roll onto his tummy, mostly because he won't get his arm out of the way! It's coming though. Ok, the pictures part!

We haven't cut his hair yet. Some times Mom gets a bit distracted during bath time! It was a mohawk but it was so long it curled over under it's own weight. We might have to use some Elmer's next time.

Look at that strong boy holding his head up. We have a sweet Tummy Time mat for him that he has out grown, he's longer than it is round!

As happy as Hunter looks here this plan did not last. He has good head control but pretty poor endurance on it. He lasted about 3 blocks of our walk and started grunting a bunch and stopped holding his head up. So I turned him around.

Here is the whole happy family just after Hunters's 4 month Birthday. I had a meeting for contract work so he wore a collared onesie!

OK, you may need to start this one and walk away or check it out on broadband but here are some movies of Hunter at 3.5months-ish.

Here is Hunter making a new noise! He really is trying to communicate and loves it if you make the same noises back to him!

In the above video Hunter won't reach out and grab the stuff in front of him. But, DANG, is he cute! In the last video he does make the connection between cause and effect with his hand and plays with the spiny thing in front of him. Still, super cute!

3 months!

Ok, so Hunter is down for one of his epic 30min naps so I'll try and get a blog post in..... for some reason he feels that this is sufficient..... his parents disagree! So suggestions on extending those naps would be great. Hunter is now 3 months old. Jon weighed and measured him on Friday, he says he's about 14lbs (!) and 24.5 inches. Here he is at 3 months!

Jon and Hunter have begun their adventure together of stay at home Dad and baby. Things are going pretty well and they are starting to get into a rhythm and get each other figured out. He's managed to go grocery shopping, do the laundry and run some errands, as well as some Manny time with some other Dads. If you know of a Dad's group in the Denver area I'm sure he'd love to have more people to hang out with that understand what it's like to stay at home. Hunter is working hard on holding up his head! Here are some pictures of practicing. And, he's such a big boy he has rolled from his tummy onto his back (just once)! Hopefully he'll do it some more so mom can see.
Jon sets up the video chat so that mom can see Hunter while she's at work (and she loves it!!!!!) It's a nice part of my lunch break to see the little man play with his toys. Work is going ok for mom, she is very busy and the days go fast. A little more sleep and things would be peachy.
And of course.... more pictures!We may have to invest in some serious baby hair gel..... we're not sure what's going on with that hair!

Customer Service!

So lately Jon and I have been getting some GREAT customer service!

First- the video monitor

Yes, we're spoiled and bought a video monitor to keep an eye on Hunter. I love it, honestly, I would recommend one to everyone. We've even used it to see what the dog is up to! :)

After Hunter arrived we started using the video monitor and it didn't seem to pick up sound well. Like..... I could hear Hunter crying in his room and the monitor wouldn't pick it up or would pick it up intermittently. So we contacted the manufacturer regarding the issue. They advised us to send it back and have it looked at to see if there was a problem with it. While we were disappointed we'd have to go without the monitor, it was worth a shot to see if it would work better. So after several weeks, they sent us a brand new monitor! And it works like a dream! So big props to Levana for the new Babyview20 ! The company handled everything very well and were always quick to respond to emails regarding the status of our return!

Second- the dog crate

We bought Brewski a crate in April thinking it would be good for him to have a place of his own once the baby arrived. He had been doing really well with staying in the crate until there was a thunderstorm while we were gone. When we came home Brewski had pryed the crate open at the top and escaped. Thankfully he wasn't hurt, but we were out over $100 on that sucker. So we emailed the company and they have offered to replace the crate with their nicest model available (the heaviest wire gauge)! Thanks MidWest Homes for Pets!

Third- a baby outfit

One of our friends got Hunter a fabulous Red Wings outfit (barf I think..... but it is what it is). However the 3 piece set has 2 pieces size 6-9month and one piece 3-6 months. Babysport.com has told us to send the set back and they will correct it so we have all 6-9month pieces! Woohoo!

And Jon got a free beer at dinner the other night cause they screwed up his burger :)

Ahh, the Homeland

Hey All,

OK first off some updates. Hunter is now 24" long, like a good pike, and 12lbs 12oz. He also got his dip-tet, which is a HUGE relief, along with a couple of other immunizations. Hunter is really only getting up once a night now and his cries actually have some meaning these days and we are starting to get him figured out a bit. He is also smiling at us and sticking out his tongue at us. He is starting to mimic us a bit and being a really good time! We just got back from Indiana visiting the family. Hunter got to meet some more of his relatives, including his Great-Grandma! While we were in Fort Wayne, we had two great open houses for people to meet Hunter. Lots of folks got to meet Hunter and the open houses were great! Many thanks for all the work that went into those. OK, now back to the part you all like, THE PICTURES!

Here is Grandpa pulling some Nap Time Duty. Hunter is getting much better about sleeping on his own after some Self Soothing at home.

Gradma Deb had a rough week while we were in town, but a beautiful sleeping baby will make it all OK.

My parents took us to 100 Acres at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. It was, well, art. It was a nice time and a good walk. Hunter, obviously, is having a good time.

Justin and I stood next to each other at our respective weddings. This is the closest our boys have been so far, aside from being 2.5 weeks apart.

While hanging out at Grandma Debs house Samantha was checking out Hunter while he got some quality tummy time. All aided by the Tummy Time mat "Uncle" Dave and "Aunt" Laura got for Optimus.

This picture is from after we got home but it's too cute to keep to ourselves. Hunter has been working really hard at learning how to soothe himself. One tactic he has learned is pretty advanced. It's a combination of a nose rub and a thumb suck. So far he's only done it once and the worst part, it's his left hand! Sinister!
