A little Reflection

Hey All,

Just as Hunter looks back at himself in his snail toy, we must take a look back at Hunter as well. (I know, cheesy right?) Emily and I have been a bit remiss in posting blogs so we must get caught. You should be pretty caught up on Hunters life by the end of this post. We'll see, here goes. Timing wise, this post starts about a month ago with Hunter's 5 month birthday and pictures. Below you can see Hunter and the whole family. He is posed with his Pooh Bear, which is really going to be funny on his 16th birthday. The whole family is there, including Pooh. I'm pretty sure we are as happy as we look. Hunter is as happy as he looks in the solo picture. He is usually happier when his parents are holding him, I promise.

Dad has been getting better at staying at home with Hunter. I won't lie and tell you that there aren't days when I would like to be at work, or riding my bike. I seek out as much human, adult, contact I can find. Chatting and Skyping have helped a lot. If you wanna get hooked up shoot me an email and we can find each other. Some times I take advantage of Hunter for entertainment. (Too much time alone + Hunters Comb over + one of Emily's hair ties = entertainment for me!) I'm pretty sure this picture will cost me a weeks worth of butt wiping when I'm under Hunter's care, but it's worth it. I think. We don't always dress him up funny. Here he is rocking his Cubs outfit! Emily doesn't follow much baseball, so she put him in this outfit on the first day of playoffs. Also the first day of vacation for the Cubs, again.

We took Hunter to the Pumpkin patch this year! It was pretty fun, although I feel like I missed a lot and didn't contribute much. In retrospect, I think I had the flu. We found 3 good pumpkins and took them home. We got to see some farm animals as well. Then one of us, OK 2 of us, was pretty tired so we headed home. We got the picture of him in his car seat before we got off the lot.

Emily carved her pumpkin and Hunters Pumpkin, when we got home. I only carved the tops off and sat and watched. Making sure to take my medicine on time. It looked like Emily and Hunter were having a good time. Hunter got to play with some pumpkin guts, he was on the fence about them. I think that'll be different next year. Here is Hunter with the pumpkin that Emily carved for him. Of the three we got this was the smallest, or "baby" one. I carved mine a couple of days later. Here are all 3 on the front porch glowing away.

Deb came into town to celebrate Halloween with us. Here she is reading a book she brought for Hunter. Shortly after this it was time to get dressed up for Halloween. As mentioned before we had an eventful night before Halloween. So Emily and I didn't spend much time getting ready for Halloween. So Hunter was the only one with a costume. It's also the only one you care about. Hunter was a pretty cute little Monkey! You can't see the tail, but it's got a pretty cute little tail as well.

Yeah, no kidding. He is like the cutest kid of all time. I mean I was a really cute little kid, but Hunter is off the charts. C'mon, look at how cute he is, his tiny hands folded in front of him!

Here is Hunter Checking out the pumpkin Family. Emily's is on the top left, mine is top right and Hunter's is on the bottom. He can almost stand up holding onto stuff. I was too worried about the stability of the pumpkins to let him try it on his own. Plus, he'd already taken the fast way down the stairs on the Emily express the night before!

Fast forward, 1 week, to Emily's birthday. Nope, you ask her. We had a leisure day at home. Hunter rocked his "Junior Firefighter" onsie, matching Mom's FF t-shirt. I went out and got Emily some Blueberry donuts, her favorite, and some Dazbog Coffee, my favorite. We had a nice time together. Hunter also appeared to enjoy the coffee. Yes, the lid is on tight. No, he didn't spill any on himself. Which is probably better than Mom and Dad usually do.

We also decided to try Hunter on some solid foods. Emily is in charge of picking these foods out. We started him on some Sweet Potato first. You can decide for your self if he liked it or not from the picture. Here's another clue. We tried Avacado the next time.

Same results.

Today, Hunter is just over 6 months old and we took him to his 6 month check up. He is 16lbs, 6oz, and 26.25 inches tall. I won't call him long. Over 2 feet! He is in the 50% percentile generally and has a 17" head circumference. Helmets start around 18", so we are getting close! Here is Hunter's 6month picture. You can tell how much taller than Pooh Bear he is starting to get. And yes, he does love his Dad! Deb gave us, among other things, some fun bath toys to use with Hunter. Here is Emily squirting him with a little fishy. He was laughing right up till I took the picture. He's still chubby for sure, but we like him that way!

Developmentally Hunter is right on track. He can roll over on demand, his of course, in both directions. He has started sleeping and napping (difference being time of day) on his tummy sometimes. Made Mom and Dad a bit nervous at first be we are getting used to it. He can partially sit up on his own. But you have to get him started in a good direction first. He is babbling up a storm and is starting to form some consonant type sounds. One of them being "mmm". He's on the verge of saying "Mom"! He's got the leg part of crawling down, just needs to include the arm motion. He should be pulling himself up onto things and cruising around in the next few months. If you get an interesting stable object in front of him and get him set up he can stand on his own for a bit already. Just can't get himself there on his own.

Today was kind of a rough day for him. He got another round of shots. He did great but had one vaccine by mouth and 3 shots in his legs. He's doing great. It's snowing again for Hunter. This is the second round of snow we've had since he was born, second day in the hospital. He seems to like watching it. But, he's pretty observant of the things around him. That's all for now. One last parting shot of the little guy. Till next time.

Couple things, more pictures on the picasa album. If you aren't getting emails telling you it has updated and want them, let us know. Also, let me know if you wanna chat during the day. We have video capability, so let me know.
